Lake Placid

I want to thank each and everyone of you who came to meet me at the book signings I did at Ironman Lake Placid this past weekend. I am very thankful for your support and know the book From Addict to Ironman will benefit you in some capacity. Also thanks to Inside-Out-Sports and the Bookstore Plus for holding the signings.

Thanks also to Tammy from Kuji for the helmets and other racing equipment that you provided me with.

I just received a proof of a billboard that is appearing in Oregon, Ohio for an event I am speaking at this September 9. Very humbling to see myself in this format and I am honored to be involved in their worthy event.

I want to clarify a few things regarding Racing for Recovery. Our support group meetings are not AA, CA or NA and we do not practice 12 steps in any capacity. We have our Lifestyle of Recovery guidelines that we follow and benefit from. Also regarding where funds go that we receive and how am I compensated. I only get paid when I do a speaking engagement that the organization who contracted me donates to Racing for Recovery. All sales of the book, DVD, race entry fees, donations, sponsorship and sales of merchandise go to directly to Racing for Recovery. That money is utilized to run this organization and pay for our expenses which are extensive. For example, jerseys and t shirts for our events, promotional materials, permits, telephones, fax machine, travel expenses when I am out promoting our program etc. I hope this information clarifies any questions that you all may have regarding Racing for Recovery and how I am compensated.

Off for a run.

Masons Birthday and Sports Illustrated

Happy 1 year birthday to my son Mason (July 14). Also congrats to my son Konor for taking the training wheels off his bike a few weeks ago. I have been doing a lot of riding with him and Skylar and Madison. Someday we will all do an Ironman together.

Great article on SportsIllustrated.com regarding Racing for Recovery.
Thanks to Cory for his coverage.

Also thanks to Ray J for all of his support latley. I am thankful for the media coverage that Runner's World Magazine has provided because many people have been impacted by the story and that is the point.

I am leaving for Ironman Lake Placid on Wednesday not to race but to do book signings and also support my coach and friend Scott Horns. I hope he qualifies for Ironman Hawaii as he deserves it.

Racing for Recovery is working on a monitoring program for kids in New York. We are in the beginning stages and hope to have things rolling by January 2007. Basically we will provide weekly training sessions for adolescents and offer a small triathlon in May as a type of graduation ceremony. Thanks to Kathy and Ryan for getting this rolling.

Ok enough for now I have to get in a run.

With Sobriety Anything is Possible.
