California
Hello everyone,
I just finished my first race of the season to promote Racing for Recovery. This was the California Half Ironman 70.3. I had done this race when it was a full Ironman in 2000 but forgot how cold the water was (56 degrees) and how hilly the bike course was. I had barely trained for this and finished with a 6:07 time. I dont know if that is good or bad nor do I care as that is not the main purpose of my racing as I am more concerned with promoting our program than how fast I do the event in.
Our 2006 taxes have been completed and I want to thank Michael Hawes and Associates for donating their services to us. Also we received a kind donation from Jeff and Kim King who work for New York Life. They also are the sole reason we had our golf outting last year and will continue to do the event this year. Tentative date is Aug 3 and I will have confirmation on this very soon. Thanks for all of your support guys it is truly appreciated.
Our spirituality meeting and exercise meeting have been received with positive comments. Racing for Recovery views sobriety with a holistic approach and with these new additional support groups that philosophy is being showcased.
We also had a booth this past weekend in our local business expo and I want to thank everyone from Racing for Recovery who volunteered their time (Elissa, David, Ron, Sandy and Anita). I also want to thank Sharon from the Sylvania Advantage Newspaper for her endless support of our program.
I guess once again you can see "with sobriety anything is possible" I and this program are truly blessed and life is good without using drugs and booze. The choice is yours to the live you want to live. If you want misery, then continue on your current path but if you want a tremendous life that includes, family, friends, health, education, spirituality and many others benefits, give sobriety and Racing for Recovery a chance.
Next week I am off to New Hampshire to do several speaking gigs. Just an FYI this is all a result of meeting Tom Dawson while I was racing an event in New Hampshire last year. That is why I get out there and promote our program through racing as it enables me to meet people that put me in front of others who need to hear this message.
God Bless and enjoy your day.
TC
