Boston and Philly
Hello everyone,
I just returned from a successful trip to Philadelphia and Boston. I had the great pleasure of speaking at Cephalon Pharmaceuticals and doing my first book signing there as well. The company is introducing a new drug to fight addiction and I was honored to be a guest speaker for this amazing company. They ordered 300 books and the response has been very receptive from their employees. Special thanks to Joe, Karen and Christina for arranging my appearance.
Next it was on to Boston where I did 3 speaking engagements and 4 different television interviews. My first presentation was at a prison where I had the chance to talk shop with the inmates. I completely enjoyed this as the main focus was to point out they never have to come back to a facility like this again if they remain sober. Next up was the Medford High School where 1,000 students filled the gym to hear my share my experiences and inform them on Racing for Recovery. I finished up with a presentation at a youth boxing gym for at risk kids. This was awesome to meet these young people and other individuals from the community. It is nice to see this type of facility being offered to the young people.
The media exposure was great with NBC, CBS and COMCAST covering the program and my participation in the Boston Marathon on April 17.
I just received an email from Ironman North America that I have been selected by Ford Motor Company as the "Hero of the Day" for the upcoming Ironman Arizona event that I will be participating in on April 9. I am thankful for this and look forward to my interview with them next week.
I am home for the weekend which is nice. Monday is a reading from the book From Addict to Ironman at a local drug treatment center, Tuesday is a speaking engagement here at a local high school and then Wednesday I am off to the Ironman.
Thanks to those who have ordered movies and books lately it is very much appreciated. Quick story for you here. A gentleman purchased the book at one of my speaking gigs in Boston and the next day he was carrying it into a local restaurant. A lady who was having breakfast saw the book and informed him, "I just read that book and it is amazing". The guy called me to let me know what he was told and I was overwhelmed by that. The message is getting out there and that is the point.
The Boston community is very supportive of ALL organizations that support recovery and I appreciate everyone that I met while I was in town. See you again in 2 weeks.
Enjoy your day everyone.
TC
